The Roland SP-404 MK1 is an electronic sampler developed by Roland Corporation in 2005. It is part of the SP family and is a successor to the SP-303 and SP-505 samplers. The SP-404 has 12 voices of polyphony, real-time loop recording, and sample-editing tools, and it includes 29 effects such as BMP Looper, Subsonic, reverb, delay, and Voice Transformer. It can hold up to 24 samples in memory simultaneously and up to 772 minutes of sampling time with a 1GB CompactFlash Card. The device can operate on 6 AA batteries or via an AC adaptor and is very compact, measuring 7 inches wide and 2-7/8 inches high with a weight of 2lbs. 14 oz.
